Fundraising Events in Small Town Raise $12,000 in Three Months
Greens Fork, Indiana (pop. 1,600) -- The thermal imager fundraiser in this small community was started in mid-May and completed by mid-August of 2003. The department raised a total of $12,000 and received its thermal imager on Sept. 4. Angela Garret, the wife of a firefighter, managed the campaign, using Bullard inSIGHT materials for guidance and ideas. The local community center donated $7,000 after a compelling technology demonstration by Orr Safety distributor representative Bob Olinick. Local fundraising events included a hog roast, garage sale, spaghetti dinner, ice cream social, raffle, and individual appeals to local businesses.
Firefighter Joe Etherton: “Angie read the materials and was really gung ho about making this happen. She felt like the materials helped her know who to talk with, and how to approach fundraising. We made sure to demonstrate the technology whenever we could... The materials have been a real asset to us.”
Funding Tip:
An enthusiastic, committed leader who follows the inSIGHT program is sure to succeed with TI fundraising, regardless of the size of the community. Thermal imagers are visual, compelling and personal. Use those factors to your benefit!
