Bullard Fulfills New Jersey Contract
800 Thermal Imagers Shipped on Time

Over the course of eight months, Bullard has fulfilled its contract with the state of New Jersey by shipping 800 thermal imagers for use in fire departments across the state. The first 587 thermal imagers equipped every department in the state, making New Jersey the first in the nation to provide border-to-border coverage. Remaining units funded by the state appropriation were shipped to departments that were eligible for multiple units, based on population and geographic requirements established by the New Jersey Fire Commission.
The state’s push to equip its local fire departments began on April 20, 2000 with a kickoff event held at Middlesex Fire Academy. Since then, Bullard has shipped 100 units per month to officials at the Division of Fire and Safety, who then distributed units to local fire departments. One hundred percent of shipments were on time. The state contract price is offered to individual New Jersey departments through the month of March, and Bullard managers anticipate that a total of 1,000 units will be shipped to the state before the contract ends.
Governor Christine Todd Whitman and the state legislature of New Jersey took a national lead with fire safety by appropriating $7.5 million for the purchase of thermal imagers in October of 1999. The state of New Jersey selected Bullard from among numerous thermal imager vendors under consideration in a bid process that began in the fall of 1999 and ended in March of 2000.
