Bullard Receives Approval to Sell Thermal Imagers
to the U.S. Navy
April 9, 2001
Effective in February, the Bullard Thermal Imager received approval for use by U.S. Navy commands, allowing the company to sell its market-leading unit to meet Navy needs for enhancing operational safety and combat survivability.
The Navy tests are among the most comprehensive tests ever conducted on thermal
imagers. Of all the thermal imagers tested, Bullard was one of only two units

firefighter in full gear.
• Thermal imager must be operable with either the left or right hand.
• Batteries must be easily changed.
• Thermal imager must be watertight.
• Thermal imager withstands multiple drops from at least three feet without
damage or change in performance.
• Thermal imager performance must not be affected by temperature and humidity
effects associated with exposure to the firefighting environment aboard Navy
ships.
• Thermal imager and harness must be easily passable to another firefighter
standing on either side of the user.
• Thermal imager and accessories shall be constructed of materials that will
