Bullard Offers Online Fire Helmet Training

Training Helps Fire Departments Comply with NFPA Standard for Fire Helmet Care

FEBRUARY 18, 2009 – CYNTHIANA, KY – Bullard, a leading manufacturer of safety equipment for the fire service market, is offering online training to ensure fire departments comply with the NFPA 1851, 2008 Standard for fire helmet care and maintenance.

The NFPA 1851, 2008 Standard on Selection, Care and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles requires regular basic cleaning and inspection of fire helmets, as well as advanced cleaning and inspection no less than once per year. The Bullard online training, NFPA 1851, 2008 Basic Helmet Cleaning and Inspection, introduces participants to the NFPA requirements and guidelines for basic cleaning and inspection of Bullard fire helmets.

This interactive training is user-friendly and comprehensive. In less than 30 minutes, participants are guided step-by-step through four easy-to-follow lessons that demonstrate and explain the basic inspection and cleaning process of a fire helmet. The four lessons include:

  • NFPA 1851, 2008 Standard Overview
  • Cleaning
  • Inspection
  • Retirement

Following the lessons, an assessment test with 20 questions is provided. Participants who score 90 percent or better on the test are awarded a Certificate of Completion.
