Bullard to Sponsor Respiratory Protection Seminar Presented by Nationally Recognized Expert in Respirator Fit Testing, Roy McKay, PhD

JANUARY 26, 2007 – CYNTHIANA, KY – Dr. Roy McKay, chairman of the ANSI Z88.10 sub-committee on Respirator Fit Testing, will present a seminar on occupational health and alternatives to respirator fit testing, sponsored by Bullard. The seminar will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Infection Control Today Conference at the Hampton Inn Tropicana in Las Vegas.

Dr. McKay has a degree in pulmonary toxicology and is a full-time faculty member at the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Environmental Health. In addition to his teaching and clinical services activities, McKay is involved in respirator research, with publications and presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. McKay also serves as a current member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Respiratory Protection Committee, a national committee developed to disseminate respiratory protection information.

The seminar entitled “Issues in Infection Control Lecture Series: Respiratory Fit Testing and Occupational Health” will provide an opportunity to obtain hands-on exposure to a selection of Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs). Dr. McKay will offer a practical overview of respiratory protection specific to hospital applications with emphasis on PAPRs and alternatives to fit testing. Other topics discussed will include: standards, types, use, selection and limitations of respirators.
