Spotlight on Brenna McNabb: The Tattoo Artist Behind Bullard’s Vintage Inspired Patch

Tattoo artist Brenna McNabb knows a thing or two about tradition. With over a decade in the tattoo industry, she’s spent years turning bold lines and timeless symbols into wearable art. Now, she’s brought that same energy to the Bullard Tough patch. This exclusive design fuses vintage tattoo culture with the Bullard brand and the strength and resilience of emergency responders.

For Brenna, designing this year’s patch was about honoring firefighters in a unique way. Taking the early 1900’s vintage Americana  tattoo style and adding her personal artistic flair, she designed a patch that encompasses tradition in tattooing, Bullard, and the fire service.

The rose at the heart of the design represents resilience, sacrifice, and brotherhood—values that resonate deeply within the firefighting community. “Roses are classic in tattoo culture, but they also hold meaning for firefighters,” Brenna  explains. “It felt like the right symbol to reflect their strength.”

Surrounding the rose is the Bullard helmet, with its iconic brass eagle—a symbol of courage and protection. Other subtle details of the design, like the arching lines in the swoop of the banner, the wave of the helmet brim, the ridges of the helmet shell, and the swirls of the smoke suggests the movement and speed with which emergency responders act.

Brenna hopes firefighters will feel like her clients do after getting a new tattoo. “ I hope when they display the patch they feel like they are adding another chain in their armor-  that they feel a little stronger, a little more resilient. And let’s be honest, a little cooler.” she says. This design is the first in a collectors edition line of Bullard Tough patches, available exclusively at FDIC 2025.
